Install SoftTech MDM on a phone
Plug the phone in with a USB cable and this page copies SoftTech MDM onto it and installs it with ADB, right from Chrome. Nothing to download.

Kyocera DuraXV LTE / E4610 (Android 7.1 or 8.x)?
Use the separate Kyocera MDM installer. This Android 11+ APK will not run on those phones.
1 Get the phone ready
- Freshly reset, no accounts. Reset the phone, then go through setup without adding a Google, Samsung or any other account (tap Skip). Android only lets an app manage a phone that has no accounts.
- Turn on Developer options. Settings → About phone → tap Build number 7 times (on Samsung: About phone → Software information → Build number).
- Turn on USB debugging. Settings → System → Developer options → USB debugging on.
- Plug the phone in with a data cable and keep it unlocked. When it asks "Allow USB debugging?", tick Always allow from this computer and tap Allow.
2 Install over USB
Use Chrome or Edge on a computer. Chrome shows a list of USB devices: pick your phone.
Sign in and the phone joins your dashboard by itself after the install. No code to type on the phone.
You can rename it later on the dashboard.
Installs SoftTech MDM v0.12.12 (Android 11 and newer, also updates older versions and keeps the connection), makes it the device owner, connects it to your dashboard, then opens it on the phone.
No Chrome? Install with ADB commands instead
On a computer with Android platform-tools: download SoftTech-MDM-v0.12.12.apk (APK, Android 11+), then run in that folder:
adb install -r SoftTech-MDM-v0.12.12.apkadb shell dpm set-device-owner net.softtech.mdm/.SoftTechAdminReceiverThen connect it with an 8-digit MDM code from Dashboard → Codes (put the code in place of 12345678):
adb shell content call --uri content://net.softtech.mdm.enroll --method enroll --arg 12345678For app lock (closing locked apps), also run once: adb shell appops set net.softtech.mdm GET_USAGE_STATS allow
Previous versions: v0.10 · v0.9 · v0.8 · v0.7 · v0.6 (no on-phone Admin) · v0.5 (Android 11+, no USB connect) · v0.4 (Android 13+ only)
3 Then
- Signed in above? The phone is already on your dashboard. If not: in SoftTech MDM on the phone, type an 8-digit MDM code from Dashboard → Codes (the server address is already filled in) and press Enroll.
- Want SoftTech Browser on it? In Dashboard → Phones, open the phone → MDM tab → Install SoftTech Browser. The MDM installs the browser by itself, connects it to your dashboard and makes it the only browser.
- You can turn USB debugging off again afterwards.
The MDM blocks factory reset from Settings. No app can stop a wipe from recovery mode.
SoftTech Browser without the MDM
For a phone you don't want to reset. Open this page on that phone, download the app and install it (Android asks you to confirm, a web page can't install apps by itself).
SoftTech Browser DownloadOlder versions: v1.7 · v1.6 · v1.4 (Android 13+) · v1.3 (Android 13+)
Setting it up
- Open any link (or tap Open after installing). The setup screen appears.
- Create the phone's admin login.
- Optional: choose Remote, enter the server address above and a Browser connection code from Dashboard → Codes → Browser connection code, to approve sites from your dashboard.
- Make it the default: Settings → Apps → Default apps → Browser app → SoftTech Browser.
Without the MDM, someone holding the phone can still switch browsers or uninstall it.
SoftTech Store
Your private app store: phones get your SoftTech apps and their updates from it. On an MDM phone the dashboard installs it for you; on any other phone, open this page on the phone and download it.
SoftTech Store DownloadThen open it, enter the server address above and a Store code from Dashboard → Codes.
